Elizabeth Estrada currently works at Firelight Media as a Documentary Lab Associate. She is a budding Cuban-American filmmaker, writer and podcaster who is passionate about using media as a tool to tell stories that inspire social change. She is the co-host and co-producer of the podcast Broad Roots, which aims to highlight the experiences of women of color. In 2015, Elizabeth produced a workshop and screening series funded by the Department of Culture Affairs and its Immigrant Culture Initiative in Queens that showcased the work of immigrant and first-generation American women filmmakers entitled Immigrant Women: Sharing Our Voices Through Film. She has worked at New York Women in Film & Television, Reilly Worldwide and DiGa Vision. Elizabeth received her M.A. from The New School in Media Studies with a concentration in Social Media and Social Change and her B.S. from Ithaca College, where she studied Television-Production and Sociology. She lives in Queens, New York.
