Firelight Media is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing emerging documentary filmmakers who tell stories about people, places, cultures, and issues that are underrepresented in the mainstream media, and to developing audiences for their work. Firelight Media’s key programs include the Documentary Lab, a flagship mentorship program that seeks out and supports emerging diverse filmmakers.
Our sister organization, Firelight Films, is award-winning filmmaker Stanley Nelson’s production company. Recent projects include: Tulsa Burning: The 1921 Race Massacre, with Marco Williams, for the History Channel, and Crack: Cocaine, Corruption & Conspiracy for Netflix. Firelight Films is currently in production on a number of additional films, including Attica, for Showtime.
Firelight Media is seeking a Development Officer to join its growing Development department. They will work closely with the Director of Development to manage a roster of institutional, individual, and corporate donors and prospects. They will manage a calendar of funder deliverables to ensure their timely delivery, and will play a key role in the creation of funder reports, proposals, and other donor communications. The Development Officer will participate in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities, including events. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team, and should be able to effectively communicate with a broad array of stakeholders, including trustees, executives, program officers, and major donors.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 per year depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
