Firelight Films Casting!

Firelight Films is producing a short documentary that will serve as a catalyst for a nation-wide digital conversation on discrimination and bias in public spaces.

We are looking for participants to be a part of an inclusive conversation about various forms of discrimination and bias in retail and public spaces in particular -- across gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical disability and beyond.

The purpose of the video is to spark dialogue about the impact of snap-judgments based on race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, etc. and to put forth possibilities for a better way forward.

Our shoot dates are: Tues. 5/8, Wed. 5/9 and Thurs. 5/10 at a convenient, accessible mid-town location. Because this project has a very tight turnaround, participants must be local to NY/NJ.

A few notes:

  • White people are welcome and encouraged to participate; we want to foster an inclusive, multi-faceted conversation.
  • If you don't personally feel like you've been discriminated against - that experience is important to share.
  • If you feel like you've been a bystander and witness of discrimination - that is a valuable experience to share as well. If someone's experience of discrimination really stayed with you - whether you chose to speak up or not - we want to hear about it.
